How to grow
Five simple steps to your own field of colour
Growing everlastings is genuinely easy. These hardy Australian natives do most of the work themselves. Just follow these steps and get ready to be amazed.
Step one
Pick the perfect spot
- Everlastings thrive in most Australian conditions with full sun being ideal but partial shade tolerated.
- They handle cold, frost, waterlogging, heat, and coastal or tropical environments beautifully.
- For best results, plant in autumn in well-drained soil with good sun access and minimal weeds.
Step two
Prepare the ground
- Rake or lightly dig the soil until it is soft and crumbly. Everlastings are not fussy but loose soil helps them get started.
- Ensure the area is weed free and avoid over-fertilising. Too rich a soil can actually reduce flowering.
- Watch out for snails and slugs. They love tender seedlings so put control measures in place before sowing.
Tip: preventative snail control before sowing saves a lot of heartbreak later.

Step THREE
Sprinkle the magic
- Scatter seeds evenly over prepared soil. Just 10g covers up to 10 square metres so a little really goes a long way.
- Lightly rake the surface so seeds are just covered. Do not bury them too deep or germination will suffer.
- Check the sowing guide for the best time to plant in your climate zone.

Step FOUR
Give them a gentle drink
- Water gently with a light sprinkle and keep the soil consistently damp until the first green shoots appear.
- Once established they are incredibly self-sufficient. Sunshine and the occasional shower is all they need.
- After six weeks of growth, a light all-purpose fertiliser can make blooms bolder and brighter. Not essential but a lovely boost.
Less is more with watering. A light regular sprinkle is always better than a heavy soaking.
Step FIVE
Watch the magic happen
- Before long your garden, pot, or paddock will be bursting with cheerful pink and white everlastings.
- Display them fresh in a vase or hang upside down to dry. They hold their colour and shape for months.
- They self-seed naturally so next season they return on their own. Plant once and enjoy for years to come.
- Take photos, share smiles, and enjoy your very own field of sunshine.
Why choose everlastings
More than a flower.
A choice for life.
