List of Used Book Conditions

• Like New - The book looks brand new with no wear or defects. Often an unread copy.

• Very Good - The book shows only minor signs of wear, and is still in great shape overall. No major defects.

• Good - The average used and worn book with general signs of use. A readable copy with some noticeable defects. May have markings, writing, underlining or highlighting.

• Fair - The book is definitely worn but intact. Heavy wear, stains, or damage may be present. Only reasonably usable.

• Poor - The book is falling apart or damaged. Missing pages or loose bindings make it largely unreadable. Only usable as a reading copy.

• Ex-library - The book was part of a library's collection. Usually has library markings, stickers, inserts, or stamps. May have extensive wear from heavy library use.

• Remainder Mark - A black marker stripe across the bottom or top edge of pages. Indicates a book was sold at a steep discount after failing to sell the first time.

• Advanced Reading Copy (ARC) - An uncorrected proof copy distributed before publication for promotional purposes. Different from final printed edition.

• With Dust Jacket (dw) - The original protective outer cover is present, often important for collectible or antiquarian books.
